Effective communication, program development skills, and passion for helping families grow stronger...these three ingredients combine to create an effective family life educator. Dr. Pam Monrroe and I taught these skills when we served as co-instructors for the 2015 Family Life Education course in the LSU School of Social Work's Child and Family Studies program.
Using a combination of engaging lectures, real world projects, and extensive service-learning opportunities through the VITA Tax Preparation program, the FLE students gained awareness and experience helping members of their community respond to real issues in family life. Pictured below are Dr. Pam Monroe, graduating senior Arielle Day, and myself at the 2015 SECFR Annual Conference in Shreveport, Louisiana.
